The Dowco Triumph Street Pipe Band, sponsored by The Dowco Group of Companies and wearing the MacLean of Duart Weathered Tartan, is a Grade One competitive
and concert pipe band based in Greater Vancouver, Canada. Originally established in 1971,
Dowco Triumph Street holds the honour of being the first band outside of Scotland to win a major World Championship prize,
winning "The Sash" in 1979 under Lead Drummer Willie McErlean.
DTSPB is also proud to have made 57 separate performances as the Official Pipe Band of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
The 38-member band is led by Pipe Major David Hilder, Drum Sergeant Andre Tessier, and Pipe Sergeant Shaunna Hilder, all three
formally of the 6 time World Champion Simon Fraser University Pipe Band. This leadership group and core players won the 2006
World Pipe Band Championships in Grade 2 in a field of 39 bands. The Dowco Triumph Street Pipe Band is a product of this success
and after winning the 2007 North American Pipe Band Championships, the band was promoted to Grade One.
DTSPB includes award-winning pipers and drummers from British Columbia, Ontario, Washington, California, Australia and Denmark.
In August 2011, DTSPB won the Grade 1 Qualifier at the World Pipe Band Championships with two 1st place finishes in piping. In the Final, the band
placed 6th in the Medley and 10th in the MSR. Overall, DTSPB is now ranked 9th in the World, moving up three placings from 2010, and finished 2011
with a top 6 ranked pipe corps. The band is again proud to be one of the top 3 bands in North America, for a third year in a row.
As one of only 34 Grade 1 pipe bands worldwide, DTSPB continues to look forward to a strong future.
