September 2009 - The Dowco Triumph Street Pipe Band of Vancouver has announced that it has been selected by the Vancouver Olympic Committee
(VANOC) to act as the Official Pipe Band of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Curling Events.
DTSPB will be there from the throwing of the first stone until Olympic and Paralympic Champions are crowned. "We are very excited to be associated with the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. This is a tremendous opportunity to be involved in one of the greatest sporting events in the world." said Pipe Major David Hilder. Dowco Triumph Street Pipe Band's involvement will be extensive with daily performances for the duration of the curling competition. The band will be performing at the opening ceremonies of the Olympic curling events (February 16, 2010) and opening ceremonies of the Paralympic curling events (March 13, 2010). In addition, a micro band will parade the teams into the venue prior to each and every game. There are three sessions daily for the Olympics and two sessions daily for the Paralympics. DTSPB's involvement will culminate with performances during the Men's and Women's Medal Ceremonies. "To be involved in an event of this magnitude will provide an incredible experience to our 45 member band," said Pipe Major David Hilder. "The fact that the Olympics and Paralympics are in our hometown makes it much more special. We look forward to playing a major role in welcoming the world to the Vancouver Olympics in 2010." All curling events will be held at the newly constructed Vancouver Olympic/Paralympic Centre. The Olympic Games run from February 12, 2010 to February 28, 2010. The Paralympic Games take place between March 12, 2010 and March 21, 2010.
